BE CAREFUL TO COMPLETE ALL OF THE STEPS ON THIS PAGE! Online Portfolio TJC education majors develop and use an online portfolio throughout their two-year course of study. The TJC Education Department uses Task Stream software. If you are an education major enrolled at TJC, you are required to purchase a Task Stream subscription for every semester in which you are enrolled in an education course. This is a requirement of the AAT. If you are not a TJC major but have registered for this course through another college, you are required to purchase a Task Stream subscription for every semester in which you are taking a TJC education course. The Education Department has decided to use Task Stream because it is the most cost effective, the most user-friendly, and the most useful portfolio software available. Think of your subscription as a textbook purchase (although a pretty cheap one). Task Stream allows you to purchase a subscription by the semester, by the year, or longer. The choice is yours. Early in the semester, follow the directions below to purchase your subscription and get started on your portfolio. You should plan on purchasing and setting up your portfolio by 8/30 in the fall semester, by 1/30 in the spring semester, & by 5/30 in the summer semester. Most, if not all, of your assignments are submitted for evaluation in your portfolio so it's in your best interests to get familiar with Task Stream before any of those due dates creep up on you.
STEP ONE - Find the Task Stream Homepage Open a web browser (Internet Explorer, Netscape Navigator, AOL)
1. In the Address field or Location bar -
type in www.taskstream.com
STEP TWO -
Purchase or Activate Subscription
STEP THREE - Self-Enrollment
That's all there is to it! On that visit or a future visit you'll need to set up your portfolio but the program will walk you through it step by step. At each step there is a link for the "Help" pages. You may also call the help desk Monday - Friday, 7:00 am - 8 pm, at 1-800-311-5656. Spend a little time looking around before you attempt an assignment. Don't let the software scare you. Task Stream has Help pages, Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) pages, and downloadable guides for any question/problem you might have. It takes a little while to get used to using an online portfolio but, once you get over the initial unfamiliarity, it's an easy process. Portfolios are a requirement in the education profession so get used to them now! |
